Planting Fields Arboretum ; Home School Field Trip
Planting Fields Arboretum ; Home School Field Trip
During the second month of homeschool, I was busy studying for a Korea Translation Competition and my first midterm test. I had mixed feelings, but I was mostly tired and fed up. I had never solved that many math problems back in elementary, but now the worked tripled. I always woke up at 8:30 so I went to sleep really late. Ya, my routines were a disaster. But there were days when I has time to relax and settle down a bit.
On November 10th, we happily celebrated my dad’s birthday. After we had brunch, my mom planned on going to see the autumn trees. I was excited, but slightly worried because I had a lot of work to do. But she said that its fine if I don’t finish it all that day. So I took my bag and mask and went to the car.
We arrived at the Planting Fields Arboretum after a few minutes of driving. When I got out, I was in shock. I had a feeling that I’ve never felt before. The feeling of freedom. It seemed weird to feel free because my life have never been unfree. I could always do whatever I want at anytime. But since I always locked myself in my room, seeing the outside world felt amazing.
My parents and I looked at the map of the field. “The trail starts over there,” dad said. “We are right... here” I pointed out. A bright red locator that showed where we were was pinned at the edge of the map. The line showing the trail was in the middle of the field. “I guess we should start going then” my mom said. “We better come quickly before the park closes.” I gazed around with delight as we walked on the side walk. The sky is bright blue, the trees were dressed in colorful leaves. Each tree had its own style. Some were orange, while others were red. When I looked up front, I saw a Big Oak. Behind me, was Japanese maple. They were all so different, yet they were all beautiful. Amazed by the sights, we had a great time walking around and taking pictures. All though we didn’t get to even get close to the trail’s start, I still had a wonderful time.
