A Long Walk for Water's story plot

Here is a plot chart for the book “A Long Walk to Water” by Linda sue park.

Characters:

Salva: Main Character

Problem:

Northern and Southern Sudan is having war against religious rights. Many areas of Southern Sudan are getting surrounded by the enemies. Slava, who is part of the Dinkha tribe, is evacuating in groups with many people. He faces many hard times, like losing his family and friend. Naya, also living in Southern Sudan, is part of the Nuer tribe, which is an enemy of the Dinkha. Her village is facing many problems with water. The water is always too little and dirty to drink from.

Beginning: In the Dinkha tribe, Slava has fled his school and is in a journey of walking to Ethiopia. During the Journey, he worries and thinks about his family, as he gets separated from familiar faces. Then, he meets his uncle and new friend named Marial. Together, they all walk through the long journey. In the Nuer tribe, Nya gets water from the pond. Then, her little sister gets sick by the contaminated water from the pond.

Middle: In the Dinkha tribe, everyone is walking to Ethiopia. Suddenly, when everyone is sleeping, Marial gets eaten by a lion. A few days after that, Slava’s Uncle gets killed as well. Slava feels alone when he arrives at the refugee camp of Ethiopia. Then the camp gets attacked and Slava goes to another camp in Kenya for safety. There he meets an aid named Michael, who helped Slava learn English and volleyball. In the Nuer tribe, the villagers are having a meeting to make a solution about the water.

End: Slava gets chosen to go to America. When he arrives, he meets his new family in New York. After a few years, he does back to Sudan to see his father. Then, he organizes a fund and donates a well to Naya’s villages.
